Therapy for Depression
Do you find yourself feeling overwhelmed with feelings of hopelessness? Maybe you find it difficult to make decisions or to find motivation to engage with life in a way that is meaningful to you?
You are not alone! Common experiences and symptoms of depression include a sense of hopelessness and apathy, feeling “frozen” or numb most days, a low mood that you can’t shake, and decreased motivation to engage in activities, even ones that typically bring you enjoyment or pleasure. Depression can lead to feelings of loneliness, irritability, anger, overwhelm and unworthiness and shame.
I help my clients gain insight into their personal, family and cultural history with depression symptoms and experiences, including core beliefs, methods of coping and current life stressors and challenges.
I take a mindful, compassionate approach to help you get more in touch with the relationship between your experiences and symptoms and your views of yourself and the world around you. I offer guidance in finding and implementing the best tools and skills that work for you!
If you are looking for ways to manage or decrease your experiences with depression, working with a licensed therapist who has experience treating depression can help you find ways to consistently increase your mood, heal from shame and other emotional injuries, increase self esteem and feel empowered to live the life you want to lead!
Therapy for Stress Management
Do you find yourself overwhelmed by the stressors in your life? Do you make attempts to relax, unwind and find relief but often find it difficult to do so? While stress is a normal, at times helpful, part of being alive, chronic stress can have long lasting effects to both our physical and mental health.
Have you ever been confused because you’re still feeling stressed about something that has already occurred? Our brains are hardwired to respond to stress in a way that goes beyond just reason and logic. So we require other mechanisms beyond the elimination of the stressor in order for us to find true stress relief.
Traumatic experiences, whether past or recurring, and daily life challenges can cause chronic stress and leave our bodies stuck in a dysregulated state, which makes it difficult for us to function in a way that aligns with our values and personal goals.
Symptoms and experiences of chronic stress can include depression and anxiety, increased worry, trouble focusing, difficulty sleeping, getting sick easily, feeling “sluggish”, irritability, low mood and anger.
I help my clients better understand their stress response cycle. We look at personal and family history of stress and methods of coping. I take a trauma informed and mindfulness based approach to help them connect with their bodies’ response to stress and cultivate self compassion, helping them stay motivated and determined towards their personal goals!
Therapy for Self Confidence
Are low self esteem, self doubt and shame holding you back? Do you find yourself caught in spirals of self judgment that you then judge yourself for getting caught in? Do you find it hard to accept that it’s okay to make mistakes? Maybe you’re feeling frozen in worry about others’ perceptions of you or from constantly comparing yourself to others. Sometimes you hope that being hard on yourself will lead to the positive change, the self confidence you’ve been seeking. Overtime, this has led to a narrative that you’re not good enough, not deserving enough, and that something must be wrong with you.
Overtime, low self esteem and chronic Shame can lead to anxiety and depression symptoms, perfectionism, people pleasing, self doubt and feelings of inadequacy and inferiority. It can make it hard to connect with others because we are afraid of being judged or rejected for showing our authentic selves. It makes it tough to distinguish between our own voice and our inner critic’s.
As a therapist working with those who are looking to improve their self esteem, I can help you get at the root of your inner critic’s harsh narratives, how they are influenced and perpetuated by the world around you, and how this negative self-talk and judgment may have actually been a helpful way to cope in the past.
We will build skills and learn strategies to help you mindfully change the relationship you have with your inner critic, helping you to cultivate self compassion and overcome and heal from the shame and self doubt you experience. We will help you get more in touch with your own authenticity to strengthen your sense of self, improve your decision making and deepen your relationships and connections!
